Attualmente, il marchio scandinavo Westin Fishing offre una vasta gamma di esche artificiali, canne e altre attrezzature da pesca provate - tutte prodotte con la stessa passione per la perfezione proprio come l’originale esca Ingvar Westin e create per soddisfare coloro che sono alla ricerca della migliore attrezzatura per la pesca.
Questi prodotti sono creati per quei pescatori che cercano le migliori esche per pescare i più grandi pesci d'acqua dolce e salata.
Ingvar Westin crebbe in una zona da pesca fertile a nord di Stoccolma. Lì esercitò il suo mestiere di attrezzista di talento, creando intricate sculture e dispositivi per gli artigiani delle città vicine. Ingvar conduceva una vita modesta, così quando i suoi figli desideravano un nuovo giocattolo, decise di costruirlo lui stesso.
Ben presto Ingvar iniziò a lavorare su un pesce di legno intagliato che si contorceva e lavorava nell'acqua come un vero pesce. Ingvar ha trascorso innumerevoli ore a perfezionare il giocattolo per ottenere l'azione perfetta e realistica la quale sapeva che avrebbe deliziato i suoi figli. Quando Ingvar terminò il suo lavoro, battezzò questo giocattolo "Jätte" - in svedese "gigante".
La notizia della creazione di Ingvar si diffuse rapidamente nella piccola città di Skutskär. Situata tra il Mar Baltico e il fiume Dalalven, la città - che ancora oggi ospita solo 6.000 persone - potrebbe essere definita ossessionata dalla pesca. In breve tempo, i pescatori locali erano ossessionati dal giocattolo di Ingvar. Notarono che il grosso luccio sembrava irresistibilmente attratto dalla scultura in legno e cominciarono a chiedere ad Ingvar di mettere degli ami sulla Jätte e di lasciarli pescare con essa.
A breve si sviluppò un'industria artigianale, e Ingvar passò da costruttore di utensili a fabbricante di esche con una vivace linea di produzione.
Quando iniziarono a circolare storie su un luccio di 45 chili pescato sulla Jätte nel 1977, l'esca di Ingvar Westin era nota in tutta la Scandinavia come esca per i grandi predatori.
Da allora, Westin Jätte ha ingannato uno dei più grandi, astuti e vecchi lucci della Svezia. Quello che è iniziato come un giocattolo per bambini nel 1952 è diventato un marchio affermato e di fiducia nel settore della pesca.
